My Amazing Summer

This a post dedicated to my amazing summer. So much went on this summer: I turned 18, I went to New York and Florida, I bought my first Mulberry handbag (eeeeeek!!) and most importantly I was accepted into London College of Fashion!! Above are some pictures showing what I got up to this summer. I know this post is slightly late, but let me know what you did this summer.

Quintessentially Topshop | LFW

On Sunday 22nd february, the models strutted the catwalk of the Tate Britain effortlessly, sporting natural makeup and windswept hair. Presenting lots of tweed and cable knit, Topshop stayed true to its British roots claiming their inspiration was taken from the English countryside.

Described as "a style journey from the playful wilds of the English countryside to the extravagance of a gilded cocktail hour," Topshop twisted the typically British appearance, by using glossy vinyl coats and patterned roll necks to inject retro elements into their A/W collection. The embroidered and feathered dresses contributed to the glamorous side of the collection whilst keeping it young and contemporary.

Above are some of my favourite pieces from the collection and also the garments that I believe sum up the idea of English countryside meets cocktail glamour. Forget quintessentially British, this A/W collection was quintessentially Topshop.

Conveyor Belt Catwalk | LFW

Henry Holland surprised and delighted with his dark and dangerous garments that glided along the runway. The conveyor belt although fun and unique was lined with yellow and black warning tape. However, the danger connotations of the tape still didn't deter celeb BFF's Alexa Chung and Pixie Geldof from having their turn.

The collection consisted of fur, leather, romantic reds and bold stripes- all ingredients to a woman's ideal A/W wardrobe. Holland's hazard tape was seen throughout the collection as it quickly became obvious it was the focal point, creating the perfect vision of London's experimental fashion. Despite bright colours being one of Holland's staples, he took the collection much deeper incorporating  burgundy, black and purples.

Aside from the stripes, Holland's collection consisted largely of fur coats and giant gillets- a particular appealing look during this everlasting winter. My favourite pieces have to be the dusky pink neck warmer with matching clutch bag. What girl doesn't want matching fur?

Although the collection isn't totally different from Holland's usual style, the audience was certainly pleased by the clothes and impressed, if not jealous of the conveyor catwalk. The question is...where can I get one?

The Leopard Mini

The queen of a 60s mini; Alexa Chung. Arriving at Topshop's Unique Show as a part of London Fashion Week last month, Alexa pairs a Topshop leopard print mini with a yellow knit, also available at Topshop. The front-row regular certainly knows how to dress high-street, adding an element of luxury with her Chanel Milk carton minaudière. The bright coloured knit and the school girl-like plaits create a very cute look with the leopard mini adding slight maturity.

Before I spotted Alexa Chung wearing this skirt I had managed to grab myself one after seeing Cara Delevigne modelling it on the website. Unfortunately there were none in my size so I've had to opt for a size bigger, pairing it with a thin black belt. This piece is very versatile as I've worn it both at night with heels and during the day with tights and boots.

My Skincare Essentials

Since the summer is upon us, wearing a lot of makeup is definitely off the cards. During these few months I prefer to wear a much lighter coverage or even no makeup at all, so my number one priority is to keep my skin looking clear and healthy. These are my current skincare essentials, and no I don't use them all everyday.

1. Bioderma... I use this everyday to remove my makeup before cleansing my skin. It is not only     soothing but makes taking my makeup off a lot easier.

2. Dermologica Multi-active Toner... After cleansing I spray this toner all over my face to help refresh and hydrate my skin.

3. Lush Bubblgum Lip Scrub...I use this lip scrub everyday as I get dry lips so easily. It removes any dead skin and leaves your lips silky soft.

4. Dermologica Clean Start- ready set scrub... I absolutely adore this face mask. It prevents breakouts, refines pores and exfoliates the skin, leaving it clearer and fresher. I use this 2-3 times a week and it definitely makes a huge difference to my skin.

5. Balmi Lip Balm in mint...This lip balm is slightly tingly which in my mind makes me believe it's doing the job right. I use it numerous times everyday and it helps to moisturise my lips.

6. La Roche-Posay Serozinc...Now this product is amazing. I can't quit put my finger on what it actually does but I 100% notice a difference in my skin when I don't use it everyday. It soothes, refreshes and cleanses all in one.

7. Nivea Light Moisturising Day Cream...I use this moisturiser everyday before putting my foundation on. I recently ran out of my Clarins Day Cream (FYI it was amazing) and unfortunately it is out of my price range at the minute, so I settled for this. It has been keeping my skin soft, it has spf 15 which is useful for these summer days and it was really inexpensive.

8. Avène Thermal Spring Water...This multi-functional product is great during the summer months. It soothes skin, reduces redness, cools you down and can be used to set makeup. I always take this product when I travel because it's great by the pool, or even on the plane.

9. Dermologica Clean Start- hit the spot... This is the product I rummage for in my drawers when a deadly spot appears. I put it on at night and allow it to dry. Overnight the product works its magic and by the time I wake up the deadly spot is dramatically reduced.

10. Dermologica Skin Prep Scrub...This is the exfoliating product I use on the days I don't use the face mask. It is slightly more gentle, yet polishes and smooths the skin, leaving it feeling fresh and clean.

11. Simple Eye Make-up Remover... Finally I use this to remove my eye makeup. I love this product as it removes even the toughest mascara and eyeliner yet doesn't sting your eyes. it is very sensitive but effective.

You may have noticed I haven't featured a cleanser in my skincare essentials and that is because I am yet to find a cleanser that I feel I could not live without. If you have any recommendations, please feel free to comment. Those are my current skincare essentials, I would love to know yours!

Pretty in Pink

Jacket-Matalan, Top & Sunglasses & Bag-Primark, Jeans-Miss Selfridge,
Shoes-Clarks, Lipstick-MAC (Shade Snob)

Summer is here in England but unfortunately the sun hasn't arrived with it. Okay, that may be a slight exaggeration but for us English folk there is no jacket-free time of the year. Im always on the hunt for a nice summer jacket, so when I spotted this pink Audrey Hepburn style jacket on sale in Matalan, I didn't hesitate & bought it. I'm also loving monochrome with a slight splash of colour recently & what better colour to incorporate into Summer than pale pink.

I went for simple black jeans turned up with some black patent pumps- I was off for a wander around town & wanted to maximise comfort so opted for flats.  I then paired that with the Matalan Jacket, a monochrome stripy tee & a small black bag with slight gold detailing. The accessories are minimal as I didn't want to overpower the stripes, similar to the makeup with just a pale pink lip to compliment the jacket.

Hope you enjoyed this post, make sure to comment below if you did!

Where Have I Been?

BAD BLOGGER ALERT!! Okay, I should probably explain where on earth I have been since last year. I have no excuse as to why I have been an absent blogger, except I have simply been too busy. I have recently finished four subjects at AS level and at last I have completed all coursework and exams (praise the lord)! I've wanted to get back into the swing of blogging for a while now but I didn't know whether I should explain my absence or simply create a new post. Well now you know, I have not fallen off the face of the earth but fallen under piles and piles of college work. Nonetheless I am back with a new blog name and ready to blog!

This post is quickly becoming the world's most boring blog post, so to brighten things up a bit I'm going to let you in on whats happened in my life these past months. On the 12th November 2013 my boyfriend and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary, then 6 days later experienced the best night of our lives together when we saw Arctic Monkeys perform in Sheffield on their AM tour. We were standing only five rows back so obviously got pushed around a lot, but it was all part of the experience and I can't wait to do it all again at Leeds fest later this year. Alex Turner please marry me. A few days after Christmas, I visited my favourite place on earth-London with my dad and it was amazing. My bank balance was definitely damaged over those few days. In the midst of hectic college work my friends and I did manage the time to party into the new year and then continue to party throughout 2014 (there are perks of a student life).

At the beginning of April this year I visited London with my mum and once again my bank balance took a pounding. We went to Portobello Market, Camden Market, Ripley's Believe it Or Not and genuinely every time I go I become more and more determined to move there. More recently my mum decided she wanted to buy a new house (which we get the keys for tomorrow eek) so to go with the new house we bought a little puppy and named him Phil. He is honestly the cutest thing I have ever seen and I can not explain how much I love him. Finally, I celebrated my 17th birthday on the 19th May and was very spoilt by my friends and family, a 'What I Got For My Birthday' post is soon to come.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and forgive me for being so absent. Look out for lots of new posts in the near future as I have lots of exciting ideas!
